When coming out the printer sub inks will always look "muted" and the colours will look off, this is because the ink is activated by the heating process which is when the true colour should develop.
Do you mean they look like this as the come out of the printer or after you have pressed the mug?
The 1500w default is to sleep after 4 hours, you can turn this off or adjust the time in printer maintenance by clicking on "Printer and option information".
Don't know if this will help as it doesn't specifically refer to the 1500w, but may be worth a shot....
