Leicester as you probably know is the birthplace of Jessops, but everyone bought their cameras online and stopped printing photographs so it's now a sandwich shop!

I'm guessing you are looking for a light tent. I use my bath to photograph products on occasions, but I wouldn't recommend it if you have a nice 1980s avocado bathroom suite.

We actually get better results with one of these:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Interfit-E...item2a469830e0

(Although we bought a used Mk I version)

the stronger lights compared to the tiny ones you get with the little tents really help, as does our growing collection of lenses.
You'll also benefit greatly from a good tripod (although a £5 Ebay one is better than nothing!) and a remote shutter release.

you can get yourself a studio for photographing your items for about £80. no need for tents if you don't have the lights.
Tim got good set up there although bit of overkill for goods :)

You will find that continuous lighting is a lot easier.

An effective cheap diy version: Compact spiral cfl lamps, daylight temperature, are easily available and can be mounted in anglepoise lamps. Tape 4 wooden skewers to the cowl and fix a handkerchief to the points to make a very cheap softbox. A couple of meters of white studio backdrop draped over a table and pinned to a wall will provide a nice base.

We've used it for taking product style shots, in a very nice house we borrowed, as well as basic white background stuff, and for model shots for jewellery.
Found the results were so much better for the white background shots needing a lot less tweaking in photoshop than the little light tent and mini light kit things, or even using the tent in daylight.

agree! I don't like tents. i have one but it will go on eBay lol.

If you do model shots and interior shots then in did is a nice set up and is NOT overkill :)

    Have you tried Maplins?

I got a very cheap, but good enough, light tent from there.
