Print Settings For Printing Coffee Mug / Cup Templates

Hi Everyone, I am new to the printing game and was looking for some help.
I have bit the bullet and invested just over £600 for a coffee mug / cup printing setup.
I have the Richo a4 SG 3110DN Printer with the small 3D vacuum.

The problem I am facing at the moment is not being able to print out my designs at the correct size via Photoshop cs6.
    I have created a number of test templates 185mm x 70mm / 699pxs x 264pxs

When I print them out they are printing out much smaller. Can someone help please. Really frustrating.

Have you selected borderless in print options?

The print screen in PS will show the printed size you are going to get. If this doesn't show 70mm x 185mm then check the resolution value underneath. For you pic to print at the correct size this needs to be 96ppi. Any bigger than this and the pic will be smaller.

This number can be changed on the image->image size tab.

As an aside, I find 96 to be on the low side & would rather be using 200 or even 300.

The frustrating thing is when I try and resize the image using the scaled print size -
When I change the height, the width automatically changes and vice verse

If I select scale to fit media, the image is printed out far to small.

Hoping someone can help. Not sure what way to turn

"contain proportion" selected will resize equally. ie double width will double height, deselect and you can input sizes, but image will distort as the image proportions will not be equal. ie double the height leaving original width will make the person look like a giraffe.

Hi Skye, thanks very much, the templates I have made are at 300dpi

I have just checked the image / image size and the same thing happens, When I try and resize the image to 185 x 70mm and un-ticking constrain proportions the image then is far to big on the print preview.

I dont understand why I am not able to print the image I have created in the size it was created.

    Hi Thanks for the replies.

I have managed to figure this out, I was using 300dpi settings on my templates.
So I created a new template at 72dpi with 9cm x 21cm and these are printing out perfectly now.

Hope this thread helps someone else out as it had my snookered for a good few hours.
    Thanks everyone

I wouldn't be using 'screen resolution' of 72dpi for Mugs, too low.

Make a template of 210 x 90mm at 300 dpi and save it as your mug template, 72dpi is far too low :(
