    Adkins mug press fires

Hi all - I got an adkins studio mug press last year and so far the motherboard has blown up twice and the blanket has caught fire twice (i've deployed two fire extinguishers on it). I've had the machine swapped for a completely new one once and refurbished once. The latest motherboard blow out I got sent a replacement board with printed instructions on how to change it which suggests this happens a lot. Its a good machine when it works but I'm getting pretty gun shy about using it. Only printing 10 oz durhams in it - nothing weird - anybody have similar experiences with adkins?

    thanks in advance

    Dunk

Could there be something else to blame, power surges, incorrect fuse, overloaded extension lead, fault electricity socket? Do you turn it off after an hour or two to cool down before printing again?

Are these the Adkins models now made in China rather than UK?

Do you turn it off after an hour or two to cool down before printing again?

I'd be sending back any machine I could only use for an hour or so, and then had to let it cool down before being able to use it again, we'd never get enough mugs made on machinery like that - Adkins are supposed to be pro-level kit, which should be able to be worked all day.

Never had an issue with any of my Adkins presses, I'd tend to agree that electrics etc. May well be to fault.

All those Signzworld/ Chinese presses say to let it cool after an hour or so.

I can't see any mention of usage limitation in the Listawood Genie press instructions although I'm sure I did read it somewhere however this is on the Listwood website 'it has a footprint of less than 0.1m2 but is still ideal for volume usage' should a 'volume usage' machine need to be switched off after 1.5 hours?

I've got five presses and had a look through the instruction sheets. Those safety instructions appear on the latest Chinese presses...turn off for several minutes every hour or so. Grey blanket machines with 'heat press' on the control box.

Wow, thankfully our cheap Chinese presses seem fine working all day long - got to admit to not actually reading the manuals when we get them in.

Worth mentioning also that I received a brand new Adkins Studio flat press which tripped the electrics when it was turned on for the first time, so perhaps there could be faulty presses out there. But yours does sound like a lot of bad luck perhaps not related to the press?
