    Rhinestones, again

I'm getting a few enquiries about doing rhinestone designs.

I've taken a look at the starter pack that xpres do, but, do I really need all that?

I've also been looking at a video on a website, somewhere, can't remember which site, and they don't appear to use as many items as you get from xpres.

I've already got a cutter and a heat press, and various printers.

So I guess my question is, what else do I need, apart from rhinestones?

    Thanks :D

    Re: Rhinestones, again

Well the sponge and the tray are not must haves, but the rest is. We had a demo and a play with it when we where up at xpres and its really good, fab results. You needed, other than a plotter and press, the film and stencil material and gems. It cuts the stencil, you brush in the gems, put the sticky film over the stencil to pick up the gems, stick on you T, press it and the peal off the sticky leaving the design. Its very quick and the software was easy to use and alter the stones for the best look, and I liked that the stencils it cuts can be used over and over.

    Thanks Louise :D

Which of the films do I need? There are 3 different things on xpres website, and I'm a tad confused :?

    Re: Rhinestones, again

I use a macro in Corel Draw to do my rhinestone templates. Worth taking a look at this site www.t-shirtforums.com they have a section relating to all the different softwares available to do Rhinestones.

You also need a cutter with a fairly high cutting pressure, (or you can do like I have to and cut the same design twice :x ) as my cutter is old and only has 250gram downforce.

    Re: Rhinestones, again

    Thanks Sharon :D

I'm already a member of that site, but I find it a bit of a headache to navigate :(

I'm going to download templates from the various sites that I'm a member of, to get started ;)

My cutter will do it, I think  If it cuts flock, surely it will cut out the templates :?

And I've just had an interesting conversation with Graeme at the transfer press, who has kept me right on what else I needed to buy, should have it on Monday :D Thanks Graeme :D

Will keep you posted on how I get on :D

    Re: Rhinestones, again

I have looked at rhinestones, and the thought of fiddling with all those tiny bits of bling puts me right off.
We have got great and easy results with fonts made of lots of tiny circles cut striaght onto a holographic vinyl. The cutting may take a while, but weeding is totally simple, and the result looks perfect, just doesn't have that horrid lumpy feel.
