    Ink Cartridge not registering

I have an 9600 which I am still trying to get to work. Have been busy doing the day job that I have neglected this little project.
I have turned it in this afternoon and the LM cartridge is showing as missing, it is there I can see it. I have tried the usual, Googled it,turn it off and turn it on, reset, unplugged from mains, replaced cart with old empty one ( they are both original carts) still the red light is showing nothing there.
Have also followed these instructions still nothing, well a red light saying there is no cart.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    7600/9600:
    1. Turn the printer’s power off
    2. Hold down the paper source, down arrow and cut/eject buttons while turning the power on
    3. VIEW COUNTERS will be displayed. Press the down arrow till SERVICE CONFIG displayed, press the Enter button.
    4. Press down arrow until you see ED MODE, press the Enter button
    5. Press the down arrow till 0 is displayed, then press Enter to accept. Turn the power off.
    6. Turn back on.

    Many thanks
    Iain

wedge a bit of card under the cart as you slide it in - usually does the trick.
Although if it's not recognising a proper Epsn cart, then maybe the pins that read the card are broken/bent?

CHeck the chip isnt pushed too far in on the cart try swapping carts around see if it still the same cart or if the error is on the same bay, if on the same bay then its the chip reader thats damaged if not its probably just the chip end of life .

It's been a long time since I had a 9600 but this did happen sometimes. The chip sensor may be dirty or damaged. Cleaning with a microfibre cloth usually did it for me. If not, I can recommend Repro Repairs in High Wycombe 01494 882363.

You'll always get more for a working printer on eBay although a 9600 is almost an antique.
