    Ricoh sg3110dn ink

    Ricoh sg3110dn sublimation printer

    Hello,

My printer has just said 'low ink' for the first time!! how long have I got? LOL

I have been using it for making mugs, and as a I don't get orders every day I have been turning it off. Ive read that you shouldn't - but does it really drain all your ink if you do?

Also - where's the best place to buy the ink??

Thanks if any one has answers to these questions!! (and please don't say 'search the thread' because I have and would like up to date info ;)

    Shannon

You'll still be printing for some time yet :-). Leaving on will allow auto maintenance which is good but if the power fails it can drain the carts, happened twice to me.

Are you using Sawgrass inks? If so, take a look at our premium membership suppliers. You can flush them through and use much cheaper inks but don't buy until you've asked on here, I can tell you of at least one supplier setting inks in eBay that aren't suitable but they'll still sell them to you :-(

You could go weeks on "low ink" and we certainly have. Don't bother looking at levels on printer but find out the local ip of the printer (devices&sprinters in control panel and go to ports) and type this into a browser. You will then get a more accurate representation of ink levels on screen instead. Stick with Sawgrass inks and we turn off printers every night and never had one issue. Best prices are via DSF codes with certain suppliers but in reality Sawgrass 'dictate' to suppliers to sell at a set price so you're not going to get that much cheaper prices. And don't buy cheap out of date inks off eBay as that will cause issues and colour mismatches.

    Thanks Justin
I've turned it back on :)

I'm not sure if I am using sawgrass, just whatever ink came with the printer. Sawgrass is the sublimation ink owner isn't it?? Or do you mean the refill inks.
I need to read up about the inks I think haha

    Thanks

    Shannon

I'm not sure, I will have to check. I'm assuming the black sealed ones as that's what normally comes with the printer I think.

I bought it one here actually, someone local to me was selling their mug press set up, I believe it was from Magic touch but will have to check the copy invoice they gave me!

Just open the ink cartridge door, pull out a cartridge and see if they are Sawgrass (official). The printer itself doesn't come with any sublimation inks but standard OEM normal inks but I presume the seller discarded these which is good.
