Mug pictures for my website help please

    Hi all,

Just a quick question and possibly a very stupid one lol I have a cd full of images that can be put onto mugs most of them the customer can add pictures to them, I have them in psd format I don't upload the products to my website one of my friends has been doing it for me. But he is away on holiday, so my question is do I upload the psd file so then the customer can add the photo they want to it?

It would be unusual to upload psd format, conversion to jpg is the normal route. Unless your site is setup for a program that allows you to add content you will need to edit the site directly and place the images in a suitable directory. Probably worth dropping your friend an email to find out the process, I'm sure he won't mind.....

PSD is a Photoshop file, you will need to convert the files to use them on your website. I have used Zamzar to do this, search "Zamzar PSD to JPG" on your search engine for the link.

If your using PSD you must have software to open them so open them and save as Jpeg then put them on your site.

I would have thought you will need a file type that supports transparency so client can place their photo in the window?
In that case you should use .png files

You want to do it in the same way as you do your slate designs (I use the same programme for my online designs).

Upload image to website, and set the design area as that where the picture will go. Customer can then upload, and you'll get the placement and all correct.

OP has not been back so probably not worth much effort... They obviously have a working system and I guess the friend will be back soon from holiday.
