    Work Benches

I'm moving to a larger studio very soon, so looking for new ideas on work benches. I have a line of kitchen units and a kitchen worktop at present, but does anyone have any suggestions for benches, what are you using?

Seen these which look cheaper, but may be noisy if I start hammering!

I tend to make my own using 600mm worktop and 3x2 framing. One thing to consider is working height, most benches are at least 100mm lower than they should be and result in an aching back after a short time (another reason I hate washing up...). Obviously it depends on your height but worth experimenting to see where the sweet spot is.

we've bought from random ebay/amazon sellers in the past, so have a collection of benches and racking. This led us to Big Dug, and we now buy all of our stuff direct from them.

Are those budget Big Dug budget benches sturdy enough to be freestanding?
