Lyrics and music copyright Lennon and McCartney, surely you've heard of that?
Some are fine to use, some not. Quotes are probably mostly okay as don't think many copyright them. Can get complicated though and no definitive answer sometimes. 'We will fight them on the beaches' - Winston - might be okay but 'To infinity and beyond' Buzz - might not. Bit of a minefield and many grey areas.
You can't use the word 'Zumba' either, that is copyright
Lyrics are a definite no no...
As an example, I am currently working with a very famous recording studio. The walls outside their building are constantly "graffitied" with lyrics from very famous songs recorded there. They have released a line of merchandise with photographs of the wall printed on them. They have to pay royalties to each songwriter that has a song referenced in the image, even though its their photograph, their wall built on their land.
Not sure on quotes though
USING: Whatever it takes to get the job done...
Could get tricky if you don't use the artist's name. If you put "Let's Dance" on a mug, who get's the royalties, David Bowie, Chris Rhea or Chris Montez?
JUST DO IT!
dam that could be a nike issue!!!!!! lol
Don't think twice, it's alright!
Copyright is for losers,so says Banksy in his wall & peace book-who then trademarks his own name, makes you laugh sometimes.
His solicitor had urged him to protect his work. People earning a tidy profit from calendars and loads of kind souls on ebay/ amazon reproducing coasters and mugs for him freeing him from the financial burden.
