    That's fine for thin stuff Paul, but doesn't work when I'm cutting through heavy 650gsm magnetic sheet. There's just too much drag and the work moves regardless of the masking tape I place around it.

    ahh didn't know you were cutting that stuff, is it not possible to mask the entire job all the way around?

    maybe use some double sided tape under the job as well as masking tape?

    Even with tape all around the sheets, they still move slightly on a non-sticky mat.
    It's not a problem though,as I always keep my mat sticky. It only takes a couple of minutes to completely respray a mat and it lasts for weeks afterwards. I used to use sticky stuff remover to clean my mats between sprays but, to be honest, the Messy Mats I'm using now are so dirt cheap it's easier just to spray up a new mat every so often.
