Glad this has been brought up. I have been receiving coasters twice a week from Xpres have noticed that shipments post August (Unisub manufacture date) have been shocking quality. Email sent to Unisub.
"Technick" Have you complained to Xpres support as this would help the case? I believe Unisub probably license the use of their coating to Chinese manufacturers so the issue may be more to do with them rather than directly with Unisub. That is what I was led to believe.
To help with your original issue, you could try reducing the stickiness of the tape with your thumb? This might help with the ripping problem.

Not yet Olly but I'm due to place an order in the next day with them so will bring it up:)
Anymore info about this? I'm just about to place an order!
I ordered 25 boxes through Xpres last week and have noticed an improvement with the dust issue, these are batches boxed 11/10/16 whereas my issues were from august / September. Still have the condensation issue here and there but overall I'm much happier with this lot
Thanks Nick. Have you tried BMS own brand yet?
The coasters from Xpres are still really awful (the backs) and Xpres support are in talks with Unisub at the moment although they admit there is not going to be a short term solution. We had to make a business decision and have dropped Unisub coasters in favour of BMS ones we recently trialled. If your sublimation process with coasters doesn't use too much tape on the back then you may get away with Unisub but we have had too many complaints about the coaster backs (heat tape peels off surface) that we couldn't go on.
The BMS ones (made in Singapore) are the best alternative. The surface isn't as pure white but absolutely fine if you're printing lots of colour. The corners are not as rounded as Unisub but again ok. They also have a film on the surface which you peel off which actually is great because of the problem with Unisub dust. It takes less time to peel off film that to try and clean a Unisub coaster of dust particles.
We had a few hundred BMS coasters turn up Friday and will be going into full production with them tomorrow.
Just ordered one box of Unisub coasters as I have a small job to finish but will now change to BMS ones!
Thanks for the info UK Printed Mugs.
