Matt Mugs - Any one uses these?

Oddly someone just posted about matt tiles but we are considering matt mugs (for sublimation rather than white toner printing) and wondered if these sell well and are a nice finish? Olly

Matt white subli mugs have a great finish. Most customers don't seem to care though and you need to put the same print on a gloss mug to convince them that it makes much difference. This is sometimes what us mug printers get stuck in. We look at the detail where most customers just see a white mug....... and the cheaper the better.

I think you are probably right. If we ever go down the Oki route then perhaps we would look again at the matt range of coloured mugs. Thanks.

I prefer them myself for many designs. Just slightly reinventing the wheel in most circumstances.

I just started printing mugs couple of days ago. Purchased plastic ones and matte finish as it seems that everyone else use glossy ones. Tried them and more than happy with the results.

Matt mugs are good. Until you get a full product recall for an order which costs you thousands becuase the supplier didn't apply the coating properly... yeah watch out for that.

I am the same as Andrew, I personally prefer them and so do my agent customers. However the still go for the gloss white purely based on cost. In general, the end client doesn't give a hoot and when they are ordering in the 1000's it make a huge difference on cost.

If you sell over the net then there is absolutely no point at all either. Matt mugs is all about the feel which is pretty much impossible to convey on a web page.
