    Roland SP 540i

    Hi all,

I have been offered a second hand Roland SP 540i Print and Cut machine. It is 6 years old.
What questions should I be asking as to condition of machine.

I have asked for a picture of test print.
It has had a new black head.

    Whats your thoughts

    Andy

You need photo's of the machine. Ideally the capping station and as many photos of the inside as well as the outside. From this you hopefully will be able to determine if the machine has been looked after. Apart from that you need to see nozzle checks and any service agreements / repair bills it has.

Sadly, just like buying a secondhand desk top printer, you take a gamble, so you just need to get as much info as possible,

    How much are they asking?

They are asking £3,995 but I think I can knock them down a bit. They say I can see it working but I'm not sure what to look for as this is a new area we are going in to.

I think that is a bit high for a 6 year old machine.

I would want a warranty on the machine for that price.

Looks like the capping stations could do with replacing, not a huge job to do and not that expensive, just a bit fiddly.

Thanks Social. I've just bought it and got it for £3,000.
I do know the people selling it as well which helped. Not that well but my wife is friends with his wife.

I'm picking it up at the weekend so will let you know how I get on.
They are going to give a full demo of the machine before I part with the cash as well.

    Wish me luck

Lots of head deflections on that test print.
