    Sublisplash inks ...

What's the score with these inks? I see they are advertised in the DSS banner add on the forum but nowhere do they appear on the DSS site. I believe the sole supplier is a German company - https://www.printequipment.de/en/sub...n/sublisplash/

Anyone managed to get their hands on any of these inks yet, and how do they compare with others? I haven't logged in to the German site to see what kind of price they are.

These are being stocked solely by Dyesubsupplies in the U.K. but won't be available on the site until Monday.

Word is they're cheaper than Sawgrass inks and are giving better results.

The supplier have someone testing them to review on here shortly all being well. I was offered a setup myself but simply don't have the time right now.

Hi webtrekker, As Justin says all being well the ink will be in on Monday we jumped the gun with the banner as they should of been in on Friday but there was a delay with the courier.
We are the first reseller of the sublisplash inks in the UK and a very excited about the whole thing. Www.sublisplash.com will give you more information.
Regarding price they are 15% cheaper than sawgrass inks and in my opinion the course are fantastic especially the blacks, however Paul has kindly offered to test and review them so watch this space.
If you would like some more information and some printed samples please feel free to pm me and I will get it out for you.
    regards
    steve

    Thanks for that Steve.

No need for samples as I'll wait for Paul's opinion which, as always, will no doubt be knowledgeable and unbiased.

It's good to hear that Sawgrass may now have some serious competition. There needs to be a price war amongst the top contenders as some of these inks to are priced using the 'think of a number and double it' scheme.

Is this Sawgrass licensed ink for small format? Even though Sawgrass aren't quite as bullish since the company split up I still thought they were upholding patent?

    Hi Andrew,

    let me introduce myself first:

My name is Mario Panter and I am CEO of Print Equipment based in Germany.
We launched Sublisplash at Fespa and had an overwhelming feedback on the print quality.
I`m glad that Steve /Dye Sublimation Supplies came on board to distribute Sublisplash in UK.

    So back to your question:
The patent for sublimation ink to be used in Epson small format printers expired in the meantime.
A new patent for sublimation ink to be used in Ricoh small format printers was granted in January 2017.
However, Sublisplash doesn`t infringe that patent as our composition of the ink is different to the
kind of ink formula, for which the patent was granted. We`re clearly out of the protected range of specs.

    Regards,

    Mario

Thanks for the info Mario. I had thought the official line with Sawgrass was whilst certain patents were expiring, they still had enough to cause trouble. Haven't looked up recent info though so good to be updated.

Not sure why other inks have not filtered into the regular suppliers beyond the Sawgrass brands.
