Blocked yellow nozzle... now more serious

    Hi folks

I'm using a CityInkExpress WF7110 with Fotorite inks and up till this week all has been fine.

Noticed a blocked yellow nozzle on Friday. Nozzle check - no yellow at all, all the other colours were absolutely fine. Did nozzle clean .. still no yellow, and black stopped working too. Did a couple more nozzle cleans - problem got worse.

Bought a bottle of print head cleaner and a tube and tried flushing the ports out. Loads of ink came out onto the blotter - eventually went clear. Reinstalled CISS. Assumed all OK - but still no ink on the paper.

Replaced CISS with original cartridges (wondering if it was the CISS or the subli ink...) But exactly the same with the OE cartridges. Even after twenty odd pages of dense, colour-heavy printing, I'm now getting magenta only and even that's is incredibly pale and heavily banded.

Trying to print image on left, getting (larger scale) image on right...

    Argh. Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Ruth

Something seriously wrong here if the picture scaling is out. Probably not the inks or CISS system.

Hi Webtrekker - sorry, didn't mean to confuse the two: the scaling of the pic is accurate - I'm printing it out much larger to try to get the inks through the system (I was just trying to explain why the first image is so different to the second!).

Ciss is your problem there, they always block after a while in my opinion & experience. You may aswell cut your losses & buy a new 7110 & put in individual carts or you'll be farting around with it for ages & it still won't work. You will not get any bother if you use individual carts, you just have to keep an eye on the ink levels. Other option is buy a replacement printhead which will be as much as a new printer.

Ah, ok, then it looks to me too that the problem is indeed the CISS. I had a CityInk CISS system on my Canon Pixma inkjet which worked fine for a few weeks then I had nothing but bother with it due to air bubbles in the lines. Tried everything then ditched it in favour of refillable carts. Never had a problem since.

Thanks guys. I've done umpteen head cleans and every time it seems to get slightly better (I know you're only supposed to do 3 but at the mo I'm desperate!).

There's an obvious air bubble in the yellow line which moves up and down the line depending on the position of the bottles. The rest look OK.

Now the magenta is playing up but the other three are (slowly) getting back... At least I'm getting a bit of ink through it!!

Any recommendations for where I should get a set of good refillable cartridges? I found some on Amazon for £12 but am a bit suspicious!

    Thanks again
    Ruth

After doing a head clean about four times try a full colour print on the highest quality & repeat! I paid £20 for mine must be a couple of years ago now so £12.00 is probably right.
