    Compatibles versus sawgrass?

    Hi everyone

I have genuine sawgrass inks in my printer at the minute but I'm toying with the idea of replacing with compatibles? I have a cartridge just run out so need to try and work out whether its a good thing to do...or not LOL

    Does anyone run with compatibiles?

Never mix but always match whatever you do so you will need to replace all four at the same time. You will need to flush out the lines if you do replace and will need a custom ICC profile.

Thank you. It may actually work out more expensive to do that so i'll just stick with genuine for the time being. :)

Do you need an ICC profile for these or can they run off powerdriver?

    Cheers

There is an ICC profile that you install into photoshop and print via that no need for powerdriver.

I have recently made the switch to TPI, I use refill carts. initially I had only just changed my black, so ran with TPI in 3 and Sawgrass black, I noticed some difference, but not much.

Now I am running on 4, and still using my powerdriver as was told it might work ok, but I was also given a new ICC profile as part of the service offered.

The replacement refillable carts were around £28 for my model printer, and the inks were about £70 but that is for 100ml bottles, so a huge price difference.

I always have found it infuriating when changing ink carts just how much precious ink was left still in them, yet they registered empty, weighing them and working it out, I was throwing away about a tenners worth of ink!

Thank you - I'm going to take a look at this. Each of my cartridges is about £50 for 29mm so its working out expensive. Especially when you pay £60 and realise its the wrong cartridge when you open it ugh!
