I have a website thats been running a couple of years with godaddy. I pay extra for a store. At the mo we are chopping a lot of items. Basically going from a gift shop to promotional items.
Would you say I still need my online store or not?

Another problem I have is the pricing on the store. The items can only be one price and not discounted the more items required.
Would you consider moving the shop to a different platform maybe? I use OpenCart for one of my sites and I'm looking to move my main site across from Shopify due to far cheaper costs.

I used godaddy because its simple and had 24hour help as at the time i worked permanent nights. Not sure what other platforms their are to be honest Justin.
Open cart, is one, as Justin mentioned
Prestashop is also very good and free like opencart, although I currently use Opencart but I would switch to Prestashop if I hadn't invested in a fair few plugins for Opencart
Then there is Virtuemart as well
opencart for sure.
100% more control of ones own web site - but you will need some knowledge of how to use opencart and its modules,
eps if they go tits up and you need to get in about the coding to fix it - it not rocket science, but more time consuming
we are doing yet another new one for ourselves with the journal theme for opencart.

Yep, I have opencart, and I loke it. I also have Virtuemart, which is more complicated and often goes tits up, so am seriously thinking of changing to opencart.
I would rather recommend WooCommerce
