    Printed plates, bowls etc

    Hi All
One of our clients wants a printed dinner service for their B&B. Not massive numbers probably 12 place settings

    What are my options?

Is there anyone on this forum who can do this sort of thing for such a short run?

    Cheers

    Paul

I initially was going to say forget sublimation but then always wondered how these plates are printed as they seem to be able to do a one-off and impressive printing:

Look nice, but it says not as hard-wearing as regular crockery and not to be put in a dishwasher, so may not be the best option for a B&B.

I think the proper way would be to use decals before glazing.

Yes but I am still interested as to how they print these as we would love to offer printed plates like these for decoration purposes. Paul - Sublimation plates are NOT for eating off I'm afraid and are for decoration only. Cutting into the polymer surface and sublimation print apparently isn't a good idea suppliers say.

The images in bags of love look like Sublimation to me, probably using film and a vacuum heat press.

Sublimation printing is not as hard wearing as other, more traditional, types of printing on these sort of items and there are not many sublimation coatings that will recommend dish washing. I think Listawoods is the only one to be honest.

If you wanted to do something like this yourself then you can always use something like water decals. If you are selling them as decorative items and not to be used with food then it makes no difference how hard wearing the print is, its sitting on a shelf all day. If you want to sell like these guys then apart from sublimation you would struggle as the ink needs to pass the food standards grade.
