Question Sawgrass SG400 or Epson L805 for 3D phone case printing

    Hello guys,

Recently I started printing 3D phone cases using 3D heat press ST-3042 and 4 colour inkjet printer Ricoh 2110, but I'm not satisfied at all because of the low quality prints that are produced. I want to improve the process in the following directions:

    1) Use sublimation film instead of sublimation paper for better quality
    2) Use a better heat press (probably ST-2030 which is especially for phone cases and film based printing)
    3) PROBABLY MOST IMPORTANT - use a better printer for sublimation

Now regarding point 3) where my hesitation is - the company I contacted suggested I buy a printer made especially for sublimation (Sawgrass SG400), but it is only 4 colour and I'm not convinced that this will produce sharp and crisp images on the phone cases. The other option is buying a photo printer like Epson L805 and using it as sublimation printer but I don't know where to buy sublimation inks for this printer. Also I don't know if the 4 colour Sawgrass SG400 is actually better than the 6 colour Epson L805 in the quality of print ... any suggestions based on your experience?

    Best Regards,
    Ilian Andreev

The search function on this forum and a very large supply of coffee is what you really need. The ins and outs of various printers, dyes, papers, substrates, profiles etc are all here.

    Sit back and explore.
