    New t-shirt supplier

    Hi,
I am looking at starting a business printing t-shirt etc, which is the best distributor to use, BTC, ralawise or pencarrie or someone else?

What would be a typical cost of say a fruit of the loom standard t-shirt say SS048

I prefer BTC for varying reasons.
Firstly everything is priced at carton price, as standard. Secondly last orders are 9pm and thirdly delivery is before noon as standard.

I have an acount with Ralawise but only use it for AWD and some of their other own brand stuff. Their carton price is slightly higher than BTC and delivery is always later in the day which is a pain. Last orders are earlier, and everytime it snows they have delivery problems. To be honest they are just opening an account with a local retailer, so I don't want to give them much business.

I won't deal with Pencarrie because they serve the end user.

I have heard good things about Absolute Apparel - their range is smaller which is less daunting.

If you only want a limited range, MDP Supplies stock the basics, their prices are reasonable, carriage free is only £100 and you can usually lump the order in with consumable supplies.

    thanks for the response,
what cost is BTC for their item 61036 if you dont mind letting me know. I saw they had a late cut off time which is always good,

thats the trouble I have been thinking do any of then deal direct with the end user, as if they do is never good.

I use absolute apparel now for shirts, range isn't bad and they gave me a 10% discount on FOTL gear across the board, they also have next day before noon delivery, I use MDP also as I lump in my vinyl and they do it by the meter, absolute only do 5 mtr minimum but they are worth a bash and great customer service!

I only use Ralawise at the moment. Used to work with BTC and they were very good.

Might be worth you looking at Prestige as they're up the road from you......a little ;-)

Depends on colour/size. White start out at £1.18. 5XL in black is £2.20. All plus VAT.

These are carton rates, if you want me to order at that rate for you it's no problem, just drop me a PM.

The SS048 ('Original T') and the 61036 ('Valueweight') are very different garments. The Valueweight is a good basic T but the Original is a 'promo T' and isn't fit to clean the car with after a few washes.
Most suppliers list them at around the same price within a few pennies (the original is around £1.50 - £1.90, depending on quantity. and the valueweight about 20p dearer). Anything better will depend on what discount you can get.

The MDP Supplies site shows prices without needing to register. The 'best' pack price and the 'worst' single price will give you an idea of the price spread.

The fact that MDP show prices without registering is the thing I dislike about them, just the same as selling direct to the public.

I really only use them for some specialist sign vinyl for a particular customer where that paticular vinyl is hard to source elsewhere at anything near the price. The problem is the customer can find the
price per metre quite easily and doesn't take into account the wastage either end of a cut, VAT, delivery, etc., let alone the fact you have to put food on the table, so end up deciding you are ripping them off.

Absolute Apparel are good as they do free delivery on online orders over £50 on Fridays for Monday AM delivery by DPD who deliver within a one hour slot.

The comment about Ralawise delivering later in the day is a bit of a red herring. Actual delivery times will depend on the drivers route regardless of who you order from.

No red herring. BTC put their deliveries on a pre noon service. Ralawise don't, and unless the courier happens to be delivering very close to your address then you are very unlikely to get a morning slot. I have had vans drive past my unit several times before they deliver' because the system won't allow them to deliver early.

I agree about MDP, but the whole retail/wholesale cycle has broken down to the extent that there are few barriers to anbody entering any business.. The customer can google the source and cost of anything. As long as there are retailers virtually giving stock away on ebay MDP are a minor detail.
