Thank you all - I'll check out a couple of these links... I can use frontpage, but I fear its a little outdated!

JSR, Adam, John - do you guys have sites please?

All - what works well for you, or would you do anything different if starting from scratch? Cheeky, I know!

They'll all go on about databases, but it's not that difficult once you get started.

My problem is the getting startd with it, lol

    I use EKMPowershop.com

It's £20+vat per month with no contract. Dead simple to setup. They have an online demo shop which you can play with as much as you like.

Payments are taken via paypal so nice and secure !

Fair enough about Dreamweaver - I must be an Idiot as I had to buy the guide

I'm self taught but can put an adequate site up, it looks a bit daunting at first but your not working live so any mistakes aren't critical - trial and error stuff.

The only problem I have is I still work in layers and am having trouble centralising the whole site/page.

Ebay for Dreamweaver and upload with filezilla
    http://filezilla-project.org/

Never had any trouble with 123 reg - they seem to have bad reviews but been with them for quite a few years, have 6 sites up and had no problems so far.

I can put a basic site up, but not sure i it looks professional enough to tempt someone to part with their cash...
6 sites? Flippin heck! Are they all related to the same products - would you mind letting me have the addresses to take a peek?
