    posting a parcel

    hi, all

I have just packed a parcel and it goes just over the 4kg 4.07.
Now RM charge £7.42 for up to 4k but £10.34 for over that but under 6kg.

How do others send a standard parcel 15in x 10in weighing just over 4kg?
At 10 and a half quid I may as well say it isnt worth it?

I may as well put in just under 2k freebies in for good rep?

What couriers do people use, on smaller weights?

You need to know you weights and prices as the customer would pay for these with the order - anything above a certain weight and you may aswell use a courier.
I use goldstar couriers, nowhere near the cheapest but guaranteed next day and have never let me down in over 8 years.

    Cheers John

    Thanks,
I used that parcel 2 go.
I have to drop it off, but that is no hardship as I have several drop off points within a mile of home.
Cost me under a fiver with the VAT, that is less than half price RM.

I must admit I was getting a bit fed up having to pay as much for postage as I was making in items.
So much so I was thinking the way forward was to just mass produce things and do car boots.
It is easy to say pass it on, but if I want to make a couple of pounds on a mug I am having to charge £7+ with the packaging and postage.
I do nice mugs but I would not pay £7 for a mug.
I am sorry if that upsets anyone but I am being honest.
It is very difficult to make any profit on single items like this.

I think what people are missing is that when anybody buys something off the internet 9 times out of 10 they will have to pay postage. This cost shouldn't be paid by you - the cost should be passed onto to the customer on the initial order.

Just thought I had better warn some of you that the parcel companies seem to be putting there prices up. Parcel monkey who I use has just increased a service I use by a staggering 50%. Time to sit down and rework out my delivery costs.

We use ParcelBroker.co.uk, usually ending up with DHL being the cheapest - collect same day, and deliver the next. Never had a problem with them.
