Angry Ricoh Not detected by windows 7.

    Hi Guys.

Have just spent the last 5, yes five, Hours trying to install a Ricoh e3300n on a 64 bit Windows 7 desktop.

Have installed the 64bit drivers but when I get as far as detecting printer, nothing, except a message to say printer not detected.

Have tried all the USB ports, the usb cable was fine on the old printer, HELP!

Anyone have any ideas that do not include sledgehammers :)

    Thanks for reading.

    Steve

I don't suppose this page helps at all, does it? http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/com...ters&os=64-bit

It says it's compatible with a link saying "free download required".

I don't have Windows 7 or a Ricoh printer, but I found that page when Googling. Hope it helps.

We have installed Ricoh gxe3300 to windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit.

Best now to remove all previous installations completely. Download windows 7 64 bit drivers (link from our website if needed). Install fresh, connect USB cable, switch on printer, computer will detect (ping pong noise) and install printer.

Look in device manager and see if there is any item with a yellow asterisk. If not then look for what chipset you have and check for any updates. Is it a factory loaded machine by a major manufacturer (Dell, Packard Bell etc) or an oem load or build by an independant? Sometimes the Microsoft generic drivers are not as good as the manufacturers. Annoying but can affect things.

Hi Guys. Thanks for all the advise. Finally got it working Sunday morning. I deleted all the drivers and installed software. Windows then complained that there were no drivers installed and asked to fix the problem. Not holding out much hope I clicked OK. 5 minutes later printer working. No idea what drivers it installed or where it got them but, yahoo, printer now working. I can only assume that the drivers I were trying to install weren't the correct ones. Thanks again. Steve
