i use paypal (business AC) and moneybookers to accept payment via my website
but i've had a couple of ppl ask if they can ring me and pay
or ppl don't want to do it on-line etc

what methods etc do ppl use for this or don't you bother?

paypal want £20 a month for the privilage of letting them charge you commision for accepting telephone payments

cheque /postal orders if dont like online, or direct bank transfers, i explain to them the costs of the terminals for business use, and its normally ok, took payment off one guy in stamps to save the cost of the postal order, helped me post out stuff for the next week after he had sent them.

the reason paypal charge you so much, is as you are not a registered business you cannot get a merchant account, so they have you over a barrel i guess, i can have a merchant account, but at the moment its just the ongoing montly terminal costs

£20 a month for Paypal is prob not bad. We have a terminal and it costs us about £25 a month. We ummed and rrrrred for a while but I think it pays its way. If people pay by debit card its only 27p whether they spend £5 or £500 so its swings and roundabouts really. We didnt like turning business down and it did sound a bit amateurish saying we couldnt take cards.
