    Talking NEWBIE - Which Printer?

Ok guys this might be the most common question posted on the forum, but all I am after is a simple answer.....

Which is the best printer to buy for printing dye sub for application to mugs and t-shirts?

I would prefer a printer with the external ink reservoirs. Here's hoping someone will say... 'buy the XXXXXX' it does what you want well.

    Thanks

    Jon

Everyone has their own opinion based on what works best for them.

Here's a page intended to give a basic understanding of which printer to choose: http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum...-Which-Printer

Assuming you want to go for a supported sublimation printer and specify external tanks, then I'd suggest the Epson B1100.

    Martin

Thanks for your reply and I see your name mentioned quite alot on this forum, recommend. Do you supply printers, inks, papers etc? If so, what is your www address? Where is the best placed to buy the Epson B1100 printer. Also do you have a suggestion on a mug press?

I have read through the thread JSR kindly submitted and now in a better understanding - but of course still with many questions...

    Thanks
    Jon

This is great feedback for you all.

It looks like the best supported printer to buy is the B1100 and the link to box.co.uk brings that in at £109. Is this print compatible with the CISS? With regards to ink, am I right I need to buy dye sub ink which is Sawgrass ink - do I buy it directly from Sawgrass?

With regards to the mug press. I would like to buy the most reliable and ease of use press. I guess the price range is £299-£400?

Thanks again for your input - I am learning so much here...

    Hi Jon,
Sawgrass make/sell the sublimation ink - they have the rights to sell this worldwide and they have distributors in England, BMS is one of them. You will need dye sublimation ink to print mugs - not just dye ink, "Sublimation" being the keyword. There are inks coming from abroad which do the same thing and some peeps on here do use these inks with good results - but due to the sawgrass patent you cannot really discuss this ink on the forum.

If buying epsons you will need a profile for the ink whoever you buy the ink from. If buying a ricoh you get the powerdriver so no need for a separate profile.

    Cheers John

I would not say b1100 is the bet. It alldepend how big you want to print. B1100 os best value for money as is a3+ and is cheap. Ciss will fit to most new epsons you jist need rght one for your printer :-)

i would strongly recomend to read jsr post that he kindly linked few posts up.
