I've now tried it on another pc and the gap between the lines is different and different again if I change I change from quality to speed. Orders are piling up and I'm pulling my hair out.
How old is the printer? Is it under warranty? The lines are different to the problem I have on mine so difficult for me to comment. Have you spoken to Ricoh?

Stab in the dark - have you tried a new USB lead?
Does the 5050 have a built in test print? Just asking because I use this on my 3350, if it prints ok then you may find the problem elsewhere, if the problem persists then maybe its the printer itself?

Where would I find test print if it has one?
Tried different usb lead no difference.
Not sure if the 5050 has one, it would be accessible through the menu on the printer itself.
What does the nozzle check show?

ive read about this with the epson printers, it seems that it was a fatal problem! (these lines do occur with other printers). with epson it was the cyan head that was giving a continuous line though. What's the size of the Ricoh printhead? If it's 1cm, then that could be a broken printhead that has one of the black nozzles constantly firing.
It's just a thought. I don't own a Ricoh but I'm fairly sure I've seen something similar before when the line was across the page and the same distance as the size of the printhead.
Dave.
Found test print, it's printinting a line under each line of text, approx 5mm apart

The lines are continuous although they appear dotted in this picture
