    printing off lots of designs

    Hi all,

I was wandering, is it ok to print off lots of designs to file/store so that when the need arrives i can just use whats printed?

I guess im asking if sub-dye ink fades with time when printed? or should i only print when needed?

    cheers
    dave.

Re: printing off lots of designs

Hi Dave, With the run up to xmas I was really busy with mugs so printed a load off various designs and kept them in a draw. I'm still using them now with no detrimental effects. These were prints off a Ricoh, other sub printers might have different results depending on ink used.

    Cheers John

Re: printing off lots of designs

    Hi
i have quite a few designs which i printed off and still use some time later, What i have found is that certain colours tend to start bleeding into each other after a certain amount of time but ive only found this on designs which i have found at the bottom of the draw which must have been there for a while i would say a month or two should be fine

We have done it but only with the intention of a couple of weeks before using. I do notice a difference on old prints we have hanging about compared to a fresh one but could be a year old then.

Re: printing off lots of designs

    cheers guys,

yeah i think ill just print as i need then.

I must admit that im still getting mixed results with certain colours. I printed a predominantly red design today and it came out quite faded, passable but faded. having said that, i did prep it on an LCD monitor and they dont give true colour feedback.

Luckily a mate called today and said he had a brand new 21" Trinitron that hes never used and asked if it wanted it....i said yes! naturally. cant beat CRT :)

lol...i put a mug in for a press today - phone went - 10 mins on phone and somethin in the back of mind was saying...errrrrrrr you forgot something dave?????

1 seriously cooked mug later ... lol :/ i swear that mug was hotter than the sun

    Dave.

Re: printing off lots of designs

I print off all my designs ahead of time as I find they press better when they've dried out properly. The black is more black and the colours are more vibrant. Fresh prints need more pressing time and are never quite as good IMO. I use Truepix paper and Artainium ink.
