    heat press temp guide test

Last night I went to see another member on this forum as they were having problems with pressing transfers. Turns out that this particular problem was located between the floor and the handle of the press so all good, but we both thought the following post would be a good idea.

For this exercise you will need a heat press, 5 minutes of your time and an infared temperature guage.

Basically I am trying to see what the differences are between heat press machines and also the variances on each platens. To be able to do this we need to all measure to a set standard as instructed below.

Set the temperature of your heat press to 180 degrees (sorry I don't do F)
Measure the temperature at each corner and then in the center
Measure from a distance of approximately 2 inches from the platen
Post your results PLUS the make and model or weblink to the particular heat press you are using.

I am hoping that we will get a load of posts and will be able to see if the Adkins of this world are more accurate etc. and be able to build up a better and more informed opinon on what is good and what should be avoided.

Here are my results to start the ball rolling:

    Heat press: http://www.printerowners.co.uk/hardw...heat-press.htm
    Measurements: Corners: 177; 177; 175; 175. Center: 182
    Variance: 175-182 = 7 degrees

I have no idea if the above is good, bad or indifferent so it would be great to see as many results as possible

Anything else I can use if I don't own an infrared temperature gauge?

If you have a built in temperature guage in your fingers yes, if not I doubt it.

Would highly recommend one. WDR put me on to one on ebay. Only cost £10.00 and has been worth every penny, very useful when you have a problem as they tell you exactly what temperature you are pressing items at.

Are these the single laser models? Only ever used the twin lasers from work, will have to get one of these. I did mine a while ago but will post once I have done it again.
