    Spares

I bought a adkins heat press of facebook.

Not knowing anything about them I was told by the seller that it was in good condition, turns out it isn't and after speaking to adkins today looks like it will cost about £200 to put it right.

Is there anywhere else that sells spares or should I cut my losses and sell it for spares and put the money towards a new one, couldn't afford a new adkins though.

So what would be a decent swing away to buy.

If £200 would fix the Adkins would that not be a good way forward?

At least you'll then have an operational premium press - if you buy a "cheap" press then that's all you have...

BTW: I know nothing at all about Mega UK or their kit, and this post is not intended to cast doubt about the quality of their machines.

Adkins presses are reliable and give pretty consistent results. What's it need for £200? is that returned to Adkins to do the work or components sent to you to fit yourself? Either way you may end up with a good press that then lasts a long time. If it's so bad though why didn't you spot it when you collected it? Can't you return it for a refund?

I would not advise selling the Adkins but instead fixing it.

However, if you want to sell it can I have first dibs on purchasing please?

if you are handy, you can fix everything on an adkins, - over the last 25 years we have.
they are fantastic, it is worth fixing, but obviously, does depend on how much you bought it for ....
Carrage is about £80, but they should talk you through a fix yourself!

Sorry about the late replies, just got back from a weekend away.
Mr Gobby, that is for the spares to be sent to me to fix and I didn't spot it when I bought it as I have only just started and my knowledge about presses was zero.

I am going to call Adkins tomorrow to see about the cost for them to fix it as there may well be something I am missing under the cowling they are not that far away from me so I could drop it off.

Logo bear I paid £300.00 for it but is a 2003 model.

If Adkins are local then they could refurbish it for you or talk you through it for yourself, some think earlier models are better so that it's 2003 doesn't really matter it's more about whats broke or worn I'd think. What parts does it need?

From what I can see the pivot pin is worn and the holes that it goes through have been worn into a oval shape, so it wont lock down, this is only what I can see, it also means I have no idea of pressure I am getting.
