Hi mgibbs (and everyone else)
I will be publishing the results with make and model number (if available) as soon as I have a good range. Probably need three or four more to get a decent spread of machines.
Regards

Just awaiting on my digital thermometer so I can post details. I did this a while ago and noticed a +10c variation on my Adkins so I press everything at 185c (reading) now.
Will post more when I've completed the test.

I suppose if people know what their press platen temperature actually is, you could have a look at how the temp read out on the press is actually calibrated and reset it to give you a more accurate reading.

I think the topic of heat temperatures got lost about 5 pages back!.... Maybe someone should prune this thread and make a separate one about PayPal/Ebay disputes?

We get PayPal transfers arriving in our bank account within 5 minutes of transferring out from PayPal. I think the waiting is a thing of the past now with the faster payment systems in banks these days.
Hiya! Just ordered a Digital, none contact, IR, thermometer from Amazon.... but not ordered my heat press yet.
I can get a rough idea from the data posted in the thread as to what seems reasonable (to a noob like me) but I'm sure some solid, readable results would be really useful to newcomers when it comes to making a purchasing decision. This thread is a great idea, thanks socialgiraffe.
I hope to have a press within the next week or so and will provide the details for comparison ASAP.
Cheers
Nigel.
Hello again.
It's been two years, but now I'm being pushed by circumstances, and I still have some questions !
I thought I had found the answer in this thread title, but alas it seems not.
Did it all fade away, or have some results been posted elsewhere ?
I'll happily start a new thread, but the question would almost be the same, i.e. my printed area is a semicircle 25x50 cms overall(the material can be placed diagonally, and would therefore fit tightly into a 38x41 cms rectangle)how much bigger should I look for in a platen to avoid temperature drop off at the edges ?
