I had this issue with some of my mugs.. the base of the mugs are thicker than the rest of the mugs therefore don't warm up uniformly, so I read a few posts on here and someone suggested warming the base of the mugs first and hey presto, worked.. so treated myself to a teppanyaki grill for future use :)
Behind every great man.. is a surprised mother in law..
Yep, I use a bottm warmer now as well, and no longer have problems with my bottoms fading!
Thanks guys will give this a go and stick them in the oven before printing
I always pre warm the lowest inch of the mug in the press before printing to get heat into that area. As discussed before on here, the plate warmer seems to work very well also :-)
Make sure your mugs are straight by holding 2 together and also that your blanket wraps well around the edge.
Solid colours, black especially can prove a little tricky at times. Otherwise your mugs look great! I agree completely with leaving the small gap top and bottom rather than having a full edge to edge wrap as this frames the design very well.

try different settings. sometimes few more seconds may make a difference. but remember it works both ways. too long in press and ink start burning of giving the same effect. I was always pressing full wrap mugs on cheap no-name chinese press and never had to warm mugs
What times and temp did you use on your press?
Even after warming the mugs I'm getting the same issue so possibly it's the time there in there for.
I do 190c for 9mins both plates.
it's a long time since I was doing my mugs but I believe it was 180 C and 185 sec. It never took me as long to press a mug as 9 mins !! I have just single mug, very basic press. also there may be uneven pressure or temp on blanket (poor quality press) so if you have a space to play about, then try to move your mug little bit higher towards 'healthier' side of heating blanket (where top of your mug is placed - don't know what press is it and how you place mugs in)
what do you mean 'both plates'? I only do mine for 180 secs and 180c
maybe its one of them double mugs press
