I have used 'cooking for geeks' to calibrate my domestic oven by looking when sugar melts, then caramalises, - 2 known exact temps, so maybe i should do the sugar melt test with the thermocouple insetred?
the colour charge papers tend to agree with the press thermo, and suggest the toy is reading low ..... but how do you calibrate properly?

I cannot btrust this thing, I watched my press, - which has been on all day, so is solid hot, drop in temp from 148c to 140c in about 1 minute!
the press couldn't cook that fast if it was swutched off and put in a fridge, yet the clamp has been shut down for the past 10 minutes with the probe inside and the press reading a fairly constant 155c +/- 1c
