Hi i was wondering if anyone can clarify the difference between sublimation t shirts and shirts that are just labelled as 100% polyester.
Is there a difference? as they are both 100% polyester as we want to use a colour other than white.
Thanks

I am sure you can sublimate in to 100% poly ....But Sublimation cannot do on dark colours as there is no white colour /backing for colours to pop out ...Its similar to Transfer sheets for light garments (You cant use them on darks ) .....

Dye sublimation printing, as the name suggests, is a dying process. You can sublimate into a 100% polyester fabric t-shirt no problems. But, if the fabric has already been dyed a different colour, you will only be adding additional dyes to it, so if you print blue onto a yellow t-shirt, your resulting colour print will be green for instance. If you try sublimating onto a black t-shirt, your print, although there will just be very hard to see.
Hope that makes sense.

Anything with enough polyester will work fine - I've had good results printing on coloured 50/50 polycottons - obviously you can only die the t-shirt darker than it is so we we're just doing black prints. There seemed to be enough polyester content in a 50/50 to get a pretty solid black tone.
