Just out of interest as I've been out of embroidery for quite a while!

Customer sends you a logo to be embroidered onto 5 polo shirts that we also supply.

We have to digitise the design 95.cms by 9.5cms and 14000 stitches, two layers of under and top layer of soluble. The polo shirts are average - nothing expensive.

So, what would you charge per shirt?

John

We price according to the customer.

As we've been away from embroidery for a long while, I just needed to find what the ball-park figure is for small runs. As we only have our single head Tajima working just now, we won't be doing much except for some car clubs for which we charge a bit more as they come in small orders - maybe 1 at a time.

We haven't moved our Brother 3 head machine into the new premises yet, even then, we won't be tackling large runs, just what we find is manageable and makes us a profit.

Dropped and broke my mobile phone last night so it's difficult to function properly with out it - texts won't be answered until it's fixed.

John

Hi John. I would charge around the same as Logobear.
Usually according to customer and the size of the embroidery and how long it takes to stitch out in the machine. I usually calculate at 25€ per hour run time. So a 14,000 stitch design takes roughly 20mins.
Therefore 8.50 per piece. Plus the polo (and markup) and plus VAT. Depending on the customer thats 20 ( minimum) to 25 € per shirt.
Dont do them too cheap, you wont be doing yourself any favours.

Thanks Earl

I'm not gonna join the ranks of those who produce goods at a loss. There will always be others who can do a job cheaper for various reasons. The customer has the choice and generally I find that those who want few shirts, rarely shop around.

No profit = no do :)
