Everything is doable, more a case of are you capable. I have got the larger version of what you have and I am able with fixing things and wouldn't fancy changing that head. Too many things to not get right on a big piece of kit. Have changed the pinch rollers and a couple of other things but in hindsight I should have got someone in who will get it like new. Depends how essential it is really as to whether you don't mind taking the risk. Sure there will be youtube help out there as well if you wanted to try. Whatever timescale they give allocate twice as much and work out what your time is worth to the business.

I echo what Andrew says, the head on mine could probably do with changing but as the actual unit is £1500 +VAT (its the white and metallic head - Epson DX6) if I screw up then that's a lot of money down the drain...

I managed to change a head and I think its successful , I couldn't find a techie that could fix it asap so I did it my self .I was bit nervous but just gave it a go .Took about 2-3 hrs including head alignments so not too bad as these days business a bit quite too lol, Got a great support from Scotty:smile: too ..Its firing all the nozzles now ..I think it needs a very small adjustment you can only see on the really small fonts but will deal with it later ...

I replaced my DX7 printhead in my BN-20. Took a wild punt and bought one from China along with new original dampers for £1200. Took me an hour or so to do it.
It's like a new printer again. The only thing I couldn't do was enter the head rank supplied with the new head but the print quality I'm getting is top notch with my own custom ICC profile.

The price has gone up since I bought mine but it's still a damn site cheaper than the £1500+ that you'll pay Roland for.
