We are very pleased with our art work results so decided to be a little more daring with our photography and try to do some promotion with our mugs for our new book - this was the result - what am I doing wrong the gives this washed out problem at the bottom of the photo and the mug??? :-(
Thanks

I find that the base of the mug will take longer to heat as thicker than rest of mug.

if i'm doing full top to bottom print i put boiling water in mug while i'm printing design then pour out water and dry mug and then put mug in press with base of mug at the top (upside down). This has never failed me yet.

good idea. my way to do it is: make sure your mug is right in the midle of heat blanket. i set my mug press for 185sec. after pressing is done i flip mug over and press it for another minute. i do that when mugs have no stright sides.

Which mugs/press are you using? I had this happen a lot with a cheaper press. I sometimes pre-heated the base a little, either on my flat press if this was on for another job or just by closing the mug press around the bottom half of the mug for 10 seconds.

I pop my mugs on top of my gas fire to over come this problem, or if I using the microwave I pop them on top, this works as well, I also store a box of mugs in the airing cupboard as my house is like a icebox at certain times of the year, and this overcomes that problem for me.
