Hiya

Can anyone recommend a decent A3 printer for dye sub work? Some new supplies have come in and the last batch were *just* printable on an A4 printer but the supplier has changed the size of the item so its only A3 from now on... :(

So I'm looking for advice on what is a good A3 printer.

Thanks

I believe there are only three "supported" A3 printers at present. The cheapest is the 4-ink Epson B1100 (~£170), then there's the 6-ink Epson 1400 (~£270), or there's the 4-ink Ricoh GX7000 (~£600).

As I understand it, the Epsons are capable of printing up to A3+ (13"x19") while the Ricoh is limited to A3 - which probably won't make a difference to you, but it's worth bearing in mind.

Those prices will exclude inks and EasyFlow systems/ sublimation cartridges.

Yes, I should have clarified that.

That was me thinking that if the OP already has an A4 set-up, then they may already have enough ink to decide on either an empty CISS or refills. If a supported ink system is required, the VAT-inclusive prices look something like this -

B1100 : £287 for Easyflow 4 (4-inks)
1400 : £317 for Easyflow 4 (6-inks)
GX7000: £283 for 4 cartridges

All in the same ballpark (unfortunately).

The Ricoh Gx 7000 will print up to A3+ but you have to buy the Byepass tray which fits on the back, Only another £150 00 !!!

Blimey, you could buy a whole Epson B1100 (A3+ capable) for that price. What planet are they living on?
