my ciss on my S21 was a git to get working
it took ages to get the air bubbles out of the carts
but once i did it then worked fine :)
keep using the syringe (on the carts not on you lol)
and hopefully it will work as long as everything is set up right

i left mine for a few hours slightly higher than the printer that way the bubbles will rise
BUT...........

beware and keep an eye on it as ink will fall and will spill all over the printer if your not careful :)

the other thing i did was remove the carts and take the needle off the syringe and draw it through the actual cart hole in the bottom
hope that makes sense
i found that helped more than anything
i saw the youtube vid on ebay somewhere

what happens with it being intermediate like that is if you are pumping ink into the cart or removing air ink gets near the right point and works for a while
but there is still air in there so after a short while or the next day it stops again
i sympathise mate its really annoying but once properly sorted it shouldn't happen as long as you don't run out of ink

Is black not coming through because you are low on ink? Can you please give a recap on what you've done, what worked and what didn't?

I've read that if the ink gets too low in most CISS systems it will cause problems such as this.

Buy a Ricoh and give up on it. If you read other posts you will see the D120 is a pile of poo. I had one with the same problems, changed chips, syringed until I felt like an extra from Trainspotting and eventually the time and ink it was costing and the stress of not being able to produce items was not worth it. Bought a Ricoh and have never had to do anything other than change a cartridge. Chalk it up to experience or persevere and take years off your life with the stress.

I'm using d120 over 2 years now. sometimes it has got problems to print particular colour. So I pull out ciss cartridges and give them a good shake :P (try to cover from the bottom to avoid splashing ink everywhere) then I'm printing straight back again with no problems. It's probably fast drying ink or some dust/dirt in ciss

Sounds daft but, a few times with my D120 I wet my finger tip & rubbed the nozzle which was blocked & that always did the trick too. Now been running a S21 for over a year now & never had one single issue with it.

I agree with Ian. I had no end of blocked nozzles with the D120, and have now converted to the S21. I've only been using it for a couple of months, but (touch wood) no blocked nozzles to report. Also used to get "cartridges not recognised" errors on the D120 at the most inconvient times (90% though printing an A4 for example). I had to remove the cartridges, re-insert them and then re-prime - the amount of ink I wasted! With the S21, it's only done this once.

I had just the same issues with my D120 all the time & got to the point where I just dreaded using it. I lost count the times I went to computer fairs buying spare chips for the cartridges too. I don't care what the so called experts say about the S21 as it is the best cheap printer I have ever bought.
