Hi all,
I have a rush job on this weekend and my printer is playing up i use an
Epsom 1290 with artanium bulk ink system and inks and true pix paper.
I was experiencing a problem printing in black with text not being sharp and has suddenly started to be smeary or ghostly around the edges like the ink is being spread out somehow.
i purchased a new bottle of black ink to top up system as it was running low and keep pressure in lines.
It seemed to clear it but today i have gone to print a job out and its back any ideas why http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/affraid.gif
I have done the nozzle check etc and all seems OK just this blurryness on the black

Thanks for contacting I gave up in the end and purchased a new Epson 1400. I was trying to save a bit of money on the bulk ink system and ordered an empty one from a company on ebay sunday night as they are not far from where i live about 30 miles. I thought i can transfer my inks from my old system. And bugger me it hasnt arrived, tomorrow is my last day or i loose the job. It's for valentine samples for selfridges! :x
so fingers crossed for tomorrow http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_cheers.png

Are you trying to print black-ink only when you get this "spraying" issue?

My 1400 has issues printing black-ink only (greyscale) - probably because it's a bit old now - but if I don't check that box, it comes out acceptable. You lose a true neutral greyscale but you may find it'll get you out of a fix.

Also, with your existing 1290, try turning off anything that makes it print quickly. Turn off "high speed" printing, and set it to print at the highest quality setting you can - anything to slow it down and let it spend its time on the printing.

You may find it helps.

Other than that, I can only wish you luck that your new system arrives in time.

Maybe a bit late, but I am only in Bognor Regis if you get stuck and need something printed.

PM if necessary
