View Full Version : Competition - WIN A BRAND NEW MUG PRESS WORTH GBP400!!!!!!!

Justin
24-03-2011, 10:24 PM
edit: Please contact me through PM if you would like a ticket. Thank you, Justin

BMS have very kindly donated a new DF14 (4 in 1) Combination Mug Press. This was following my appeal for donations to the Comic Relief fund.

For anyone who's looking at getting a new press or is yet to start printing mugs this is a great piece of kit that would set you up very nicely!

Full details of this great press can be found here:
http://www.printerowners.co.uk/hardware-equipment/523/df14-mug-press.htm

As you can see it retails at £390 and BMS will also include shipping to any UK mainland address!

So how can you win it? Easy. A £10 donation will buy you a 'virtual' raffle ticket. I'm only selling 49 tickets so it's first come first served. Your number will be randomly generated.
I will display a list of names and the ticket number allocated within this thread.

The winning number will be determined by the National Lottery results which will be taken from the Saturday after all of the tickets have been sold. The bonus ball drawn on this day will dictate who has won the mug press!

If you would like a chance of winning, please send me a PM and I will let you know how to pay the £10 ticket charge.

100% of the money given to this raffle will be paid into Comic Relief so it's all going to very good causes. So come on....BUY A TICKET!

My thanks again to BMS for this donation, please show your appreciation by buying a ticket and filling those 49 name slots!

Justin

I see what you're saying. I'm not taking part myself as I feel that would be a conflict but I can't see any issue with you taking part Paul.

John G
25-03-2011, 12:42 AM
If Paul or Justin would like to buy a ticket I cannot see anything wrong - numbers are allocated before the lottery, there's nothing underhand. If its OK with everyone else that is!

AdamB
25-03-2011, 12:49 AM
I agree John .................... if Paul or Justin could 'fix' the National Lottery and predict the bonus ball just to win a mug press then they are in the wrong kind of work :-)

I think that you guys should have a go, it's for everyone and as long as numbers and names are shown before the draw it's fair.

I have just done it but forgot to add my number in the instruction, (too early for me) I also had a prob with the personal payment thing and it kept telling me it wasn't valid. I will pm Justin now with my chosen number and if there are any issues hopefully we can do as suggested on the thread ..refund and i'll try again or donate the cost if thats ok

Kaz
25-03-2011, 10:54 AM
Mandy, you don't get to chose the number, Justin is using an online random number allocator.

That way if the number you want is gone, you won't be put off from taking part :)

And I agree, no reason why Justin and Paul can't take part

AJLA
25-03-2011, 12:41 PM
Thanks Kaz, Justin just emailed me . I agree too absolutely no reason not to take part, perhaps a bit unfair too. Afterall they have no controll over who wins.

(SHOULD HAVE READ THE POST WITH MY EYES OPEN HEY)

done mine this morning, great idea, i had never one a raffle before until last year when we sponsored a local motorcycle run for our nearby hospice, we donated 200 keyrings for the riders and i won second prize in the raffle £200 towards an exhaust system for the bike, unfortunately the exhaust for my bike is £550 so give the voucher back to raffle at this years rideout.
good luck to everyone and thanks to the organisers

Justin

No limit on number of tickets. I have an issue with PayPal that may/may not be causing payment problems but will be looking at this asap.

Justin

At this time I have updated the numbers list to reflect all entrants. If you have made a donation and your member name hasn't had a number allocated please PM me ASAP.

Justin

OK, bit of an update. It would appear that I have infringed PayPal rules, long story short I can't 'sell' tickets through PayPal and can't ask you to choose Personal Payment to 'avoid' paying fees. I know, I know...it's all for charity. I've emailed them a couple of times as they have informed me it is possible to be given allowance to accept donations for charity but the 'raffle' thing just won't wash.

So here's what I have to do...and say. I will be editing the original Competition thread to state how you should go about entering the competition. This is the important bit.......PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ANY PAYMENT/DONATION UNTIL YOU HAVE PM'D ME. There are only a handful of tickets left but nonetheless I have to change how we do this.

Everyone still has their number as shown in the thread, the donations will still be going to Comic Relief and the draw will still be made in the same way.

If you have any queries, please PM me and I will discuss further with you. I would appreciate it if any members wanting tickets re-read the first post on this thread before PM'ing me. The thread will be updated in the next hour or so.

Many thanks,
Justin :-)

oops i suppose 32 payments all gifted prob flagged up on their system
miserable ppl aren't they esp when it's for charity

Justin
28-03-2011, 10:41 PM
It's all to do with gambling laws. I tried to argue our corner but they weren't having it and were threatening to close my account down. I can still accept general donations but have put something in place to allow the remaining tickets to be sold.

Kaz
28-03-2011, 10:50 PM
Sorry this has happened Justin, but I did say not to mention raffle somewhere about this, same thing happened to me and I got a restriction on my account and had to argue the point with them about it :(

mrs maggot
29-03-2011, 10:13 AM
i expect people put it in the subject headline of the payment they were making, which definately gets flagged up - yes Kaz you did, but i expect people still put it in the subject line or text of the payment :(

Kaz
29-03-2011, 11:24 AM
Quite possibly Laura :(

Paypal take a really heave stance on any form of gambling through their site as they are not gambling accredited :(

Justin
31-03-2011, 11:56 PM
OK, 6 tickets left right now and payment due in for 2 of those so ONLY 4 TICKETS LEFT!!! :-)

Justin
01-04-2011, 07:48 PM
3 Tickets remain......will they sell before the draw tomorrow or will we all have to wait another week?????? The decision....is yours ;-)

Paul
01-04-2011, 07:49 PM
c'mon guys! if you got one already buy another so you have more chance to win it!

Andrew
01-04-2011, 08:23 PM
If they haven't sold before the draw tomorrow you can put me down for the spares. Leave them up for grabs for now as I'd rather not get more but if there are no further takers tomorrow I'll buy them.

Martin, have you got my address as I'm a punk that feels lucky :-)

It's got to be luck as my birthday is on the 19th and I was given 19 - then I choose another number and got 48 which will be exactly my waste size if I carry on eating fast food!

Note: this comment was made in jest, and please for those that imagine a 'large framed' Adam B with bratty fingers being - how can we say it, quite a big lad, you should also realise that Hulk Hogan was also a 'big lad' ............... and besides that, big is cuddly!

Justin

Winning number is 25......congratulations to Mrs. Maggot!!!

I'm just sorry we could only have one winner! But the real winners are Comic Relief and everyone your money will help.

Once again, thank you all very much for your support on this and thank you again to Martin @ BMS for his very kind donation of the mug press. I'm been bowled over by your support and it just emphasises what a great community we're building here :-)

I'll post full details of the totasl amount raised asap.

Martin / Justin, i really think BMS/DSF should get something out of this, i was thinking of sending a letter to the editors of a couple of the trade mags, showing the total of the monies raised etc, what do you two think ??

Paul
03-04-2011, 07:47 PM
As far as I remember last time when we wanted to mention about DSF in printer and promotion it would cost us about £400 :(

Justin
03-04-2011, 07:50 PM
...and the rest! lol. I've always been keen to get us into the P&P magazine to help spread the word as far as possible. I'll be detailing total amounts etc. shortly.

mrs maggot
03-04-2011, 08:02 PM
but Paul, letters to the editors only cost a postage stamp, and i was hoping as a "good news story" it should get lineage given the amount of money raised from such a small group of people

Paul
03-04-2011, 08:13 PM
oook I got you! is well worth to try! we wont lose anything ;)

Justin
03-04-2011, 10:33 PM
OK folks, here it is. Official confirmation of our £500 donation to Comic Relief! Comic Relief will also get 25-28% gift aid on this payment so the total figure is closer to £625/£640!!!

I have requested an official thank you certificate and will post a scanned copy when it arrives but this is likely to be May onwards.

Brilliant work everyone, this has been an overwhelming success. Next time around I'll organise things well in advance and we'll see what we can come up with :-)

Many many thanks again to everyone who donated, especially Martin @ BMS for the mug press donation.
