Hi all,

My printer (the one that was sat in the attic for a couple of years before it was revived) is starting to squeak.

I am sure that it's the bar that the print head travels along - there is a kind of greasy substance on the on the other printers I have.

Does anyone know a quick fix?

try a bit of WD40 but when you spray it put a cloth under the bar so it doesnt go anywhere else

Wouldn't WD40 clean the carrier bar? I thought it needed some kind of lubrication?

Of course, I don't have a clue - hence the reason for sticking it on the forum although I 'do' really appreciate your help mate :-)

WD40 does stop things from squeaking though - i use it on hinges!

Would that work on the brakes on my car?

Only kidding!!

You'll need some form of grease or silicon grease. Less is more here to avoid a build up of a mess a each end of the bar.
