I used to own a Roland Camm 1 CX24, been upgraded to the GX24 now but I'm told the older model is easier to work with. Should be well within budget used off eBay. Otherwise check out our suppliers list http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum/showthread.php?104-UK-Suppliers

Did you find anything suitable? I'm looking again for something with an optical eye if anyone has any advice, smaller budget than that though.

I use one of these in work (CX24) and it's great, yes a little old but solid and does the job well..

Not very cheap for a cheap cutter!

for me they look like shiny chinese cutters.
regards to otical eye they reserved only to graptec and roland. at least thats what i think as i never seen ANY other cutter with opt. eye in my life.

I'm sure other cutters have them, used to use larger format machines with them, probably Summa.

There are P cuts on E Bay - they'll add an optical eye for an extra £50 at time of purchase. Came seriously close to buying one but then checked the sign forums out and decided that if I ended up with something that I couldn't get to work I'd give up before I started. It seems though that people either love em or hate them - I ended up getting a loan from my brother and buying a 24 inch graphtec. I know it's double the outlay I planned but reckon over it's lifetime will work out to be the cheaper option. And it cuts like a dream and even I can get around the basics of robomaster - I had a C100-20 craftrobo for cutting card years ago and it was just so noisy and clunky. I love my graphtec ;-)

There are loads on eBay claiming to be PCuts. I think the originals are ok but loads of them claim to add the optical eye...that's what I got, pay extra for a little light that doesn't do anything basically.

I have an 18" Cougar from ThymeGraphics and they do have the contour cutting ability (although is a laser pointer).. unlike some cutters though they also have upto 950g pressure, so capable of cutting more than just your vinyl..

I have cut acetate, matboard and more on mine.. so you could even cut your own acetate boxes and other packaging..

If anyone wants any more details please feel free to message me :)

What amazes me about them is that they "sell" at least 6 plottes a day on 2 different accounts via E Bay auctions and the final price is alway within less than £10 of each other. Mug presses the same, plus the bidding is all private. Eventually everyone in the UK will have one.
