I just received my new press y/day from China! I've been looking at the idea of importing one for a while and finally decided to take the plunge.

It took just 3 days to get here and arrived in one piece. Initial impression....not as well built as my old Adkins presses but I didn't expect it to be. Build quality does seem ok though and it's holding it's temp. well. Heats up quickly. It has an electromagnetic auto release system which is quite nifty, a little aggresive but useful!

Will post pics and more info. when I can.

Yeah, you have to watch that. 2.2% import tax on a heat press I believe and 15% VAT, always bear in mind the VAT is for the total price including import tax and shipping.

main thing that would worry me importing mugs is the potential damage if not packed very well. Weight would be an issue as would dishwasher proofing if that's essential for you. I would doubt it be worth the hassle when you've added your taxes/shipping etc. on but always worth a look!

Are the import duties declared on the value of the goods as stated by the seller?

Yes, value of the goods is put on the parcel and import tax/vat is calculated on this.

The company I bought from took PayPal but I had to cover fees. I was going to order with another supplier in China but they wanted Western Union or Bank Transfer which got complicated.

Not the easiest transaction though! Have to be patient.

I have noticed that machine designs seem to change now and then with these companies. My press has magnetic lockdown which works well at low pressure but not so good at heavy pressure. Looks like they have changed this design on latest photo's.

For relatively inexpensive heat presses, vinyl cutters, there is a company in Derby who sell Chinese made items. I bought my heat press from them: swivel head flat plate, plus attachments for large mugs, small mugs, caps, large plates and small plates. It works fine, I have no problem with it, and it cost about half the price I had seen anywhere else.

The company I was referring to in my previous post is:

www.JSM-DistributorDirect.com (http://www.JSM-DistributorDirect.com)

I have used them and bought a mug press and a multi-use press from them. The multi-use press has been used with the flat bed and the mug press attachment and I am happy with the results.

Joy's have attracted some very poor comments re; poor service. A quick Google will reveal all.
