I'm looking into accepting card payments, anybody already do this and who do you use and whats the costs, done a google it seems like a minefield

i do all mine via paypal, there are a few posts on accepting card payments already on here, have a look through - might not be in "take a break" though, try software section

As above, paypal over the internet - it may not be the cheapest but it's easy to use. If you are taking lots of payments over the phone then paypal may not suit you due to price - you'd have to get a merchant account.

it may be worth speaking to your bank they might be able to advice and give a deal as everyone needs business at the minute

I have a cardnet machine which I got through my bank, costs £12pm. Ideal for taking payments when order is placed over the phone.

Is there a % on each transaction - if not that sounds really cheap

2.3% on credit card payments and 49p for visa etc. I charge 50p if sale is less than £10 and on credit card payments its upto you what you charge the customer. ideal since most people pay by card nowadays.

Normally yes, but you can get ones which aren't (but the cost more to rent).

you can also get ones that work with mobile phones
i rem when i had a market stall getting info on them but can't rem who done them and they weren't cheap either

FSB, NMTF, do schemes, with mobile, or std machines, makro now have a scheme and also booker, all charge monthly fee + transaction charges, some mobiles also charge for the call so watch out
