I've been offered an HG281 Hanns G Monitor, 27.5" visible screen. About 3 years old, cost £300 and seller wants £120. I've been looking at running with 3 monitors for a while but can't go the extra mile needed to pay for this set-up, wondered if this might be an alternative option?

I know from reading reviews that the monitor isn't one of the best and was a bit of a budget buy TN screen. Wouldn't be my first choice but may well do the job I need.

Anyone work with anything this size? It will run at 1900 x 1200....uhm, providing my video card supports that resolution I guess?

sounds a good price for that size. just they are quite a step up from a 24" which I have here at home compared to the 28" mac i have at the office. If you can go for it.. go for it.

I was starting to look at 24" monitors, currently running with a 19" and a 17" so the 28" may do away with these.

I was debating buying a brand new 24" for around £120 or this 28", pros and cons I guess.

I've been looking to replace my 19" monitor with something bigger but, from what I've read, there's no point considering a monitor unless it's using a decent IPS technology. If you're going to use it for business in which you need to get your colours accurate, then IPS ones are apparently the way to go.

If colour accuracy isn't important for the task that this monitor will be used for, then it sounds like a bit of a bargain.

Think I'll just get a new 24". For £100 I'd have had the 28" monitor but he won't budge which is fair enough. Didn't really want a TN panel monitor anyway but thought at that price it might be worth it, better get what I want even if it's a little smaller :-)

The December issue of Digital Photo magazine has a review of a few monitors. The cover CD also has some 2012 calendar templates to make your own calendars too.

OK, bit of a u-turn....managed to get the seller down to £100 so she's here and running :-) Looks really good, very pleased. Need to get an hdmi graphics card now though!

just curious about you running 3 monitors, .... I wear glasses so have got 4 eyes, but am buggered if i can look in more than 1 direction at once!
On the other hand, I often run 3 computers at the same time ....... (but none of them could run 3 monitors, let alone 1.2x1.9k)
You must feel like Captain Kirk!

I run 2 X 24" monitors. It makes working with PhotoShop and illustrator side by side so easy. Did have to upgrade the graphics card though.

Not running 3 monitors, bought the 28" to do away with multiple monitors....but I couldn't help keeping a second one on the desk for emails!

I would have loved to go the 3 monitor route but it mean't upgrading my mobo and graphics card so this will do for just now :-)

Lol, now where did you find my picture Ian?! Pretty cool that.

Funnily enough, as I sit here looking at my giant monitor, I've been debating going down the 3 monitor route again....time will tell.

Give in to temptation... you know you want to. :D
But seriously, you do get used to multi-monitor set-ups very quickly - especially if you do a lot of heavy Photoshopping or Final Cut Pro. As for that picture - it is good, isn't it? Google 'L3P D3SK' and you should find a couple of forum threads covering the design and build of the whole thing. I wish I had the time, money and skill to dedicate to something like that!

This 28" is doing me proud, very useful. Could do with a higher res. to get even more on screen though :-) I'm thinking about getting 2 better quality smaller monitors instead...or 3.

Well, difference is I've lost my desk space! lol. It's been very useful tbh, I picked it up locally for a good price so it was worth a punt. No eye strain and I've profiled it now a well.

Can you set up 3 monitors on 1 computer????

Justin

Sure can, as long as you have 3 outputs on your graphics card....or two separate graphics cards!

Nice one :-) Great to have multiple monitors on a flight sim, you get peripheral vision and can see what's going on at the sides of the plane then! lol.

I used to run 2 monitors side by side but then my darling wife (when we had money) bought me a Dell 30" 2560 x 1600 monitor and the rest they say is history. Don't let anyone tell you size doesn't matter

Lol. My 28" only supports 1920 x 1200 which isn't ideal. That said it's dvi and I bought it for a song. I've just connected a 17" again as well, multiple monitors sure is handy :-)
