In the US it's becoming popular to create rhinestone decals to adhere to other substrates - i.e. glass, cars, phones etc etc.

The decal is created by setting the stones on a material referred to as Rhinestone StickOns. You can see it here: http://www.rhinestonedesignz.com/Rhinestone-StickOns-Material.html

As you can see, it's not cheap, but I'm pretty sure it'll be available under a different name - I mean it's not been specially manufactured for such a small market.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers

looks good stuff John - but, as someone that doesn't use rhinestones how would they stick to the item?

I take it this paper is just the carrier to get the stones to the item, for example to get them to a laptop - then what? I thought that rhinestones needed pressing to activate the glue and wasn't adhesive?

Sorry mate, just curious :-)

It's just my guess this stuff is a transparent double-sided sticky tape. The rhinestones adhere to one side and the tape is contour cut with a removable liner to apply the decal to the substrate i.e. phone case, window etc.

Just looked at the rhinestone design site and it says "heat press required".............for a laptop........ Not sure about that:wink:

That might be to adhere the hotfix rhinestone to the transparent film, at least, I hope it is ;)

Thought they were using something like the Stone Guard vinyl available from different suppliers. Something like this

Hi all,

I looked into this and its not what it seems! its merely a carrier for adding stones to. You reverse print a design and then place a sheet of this over it, then you add each stone (upside down) individually over the design, you then flip the design and heat press onto whatever you want.

I got all excited when i saw it but the film is actually quite common and its primarily for people who dont use the stencil templates.
