We buy most of our threads from Marathon http://www.marathonthreads.co.uk/

One of the best known suppliers are Madeira http://www.madeira.co.uk/ a little more expensive but excellent.

I use Brildor thread from Marathon (polyester), my machine is happy using it (said this to some bloke on the Madeira stand at the P&P, his response was "Oh the machine talks to you then", when I said yes he looked at me strangely. Surely everyones machine talks to them by the sounds it makes and the way it behaves. Just like a car really, you just know when somethings not right, so in effect it's talking to you. Men   )
