View Full Version : Which printer GX7000 or B1100...or.....?

I'm looking at buying another A3 printer. I've had a nightmare with the GX5050 but do like the paper handling/cartridge use etc. and wondered about having another try with the Ricoh. I've heard better things about the GX7000. I know it's now discontinued which is a concern.

Alternative would be the new B1100 with a bulk system, slightly cheaper to set up initially but top loading paper and back to refilling inks and all that (can) go with that.

I have a 1400 with refill. carts and wondered about just putting a CIS on that. I'd really prefer to stick with a 6 colour system, neither of which are. Bit of a dilemma!

Appreciate any input from current users.

Justin :D

Why don't you want to stick with the 1400 and refills Justin ?

Would need to go for a CIS even if I keep the 1400 so just thought for what that would cost would I be better off getting new? I do like the 1400 but both other printers appear far quicker, the Ricoh appeals a litle more as it would fit into my tiny workspace easier ;)

Ricoh GX7000 hasn't been discontinued yet as far as I'm aware. GX7000 only takes up to A3, not A3+ (both Epsons do up to A3+).
Ricoh isn't a small machine compared to the Epson's - probably a larger footprint overall.

My mistake, I thought this was discontinued. Not too worried about the footprint, I find the Epsons take up a lot of room for the paper with regards to height and output tray.

What about print quality across the 3 printers?

Sorry to hijack your thread Justin :)

Does the B1100 support continuous ink systems? I know the Ricoh GX7000 doesn't as I have one.

And where would you get the inks from?

Thanks

No probs Kaz, pretty much done here anyway :) I've decided to stick with my Epson 1400 for the time being and I've a new CIS on the way. I read many reviews on both the 7000 and B1100 and I don't think I'd be happy with the output against the 1400.

The B1100 does have a CIS and you can get these and the inks from BMS and I'm sure others but I don't know of any.

Taken an interest in the B1100 following Martins post elsewhere ont he forum about white sublimation ink being available for them ;)

And just found them on BMS website, but not under printers :?

The B1100 does look like a great printer but I prefer the 6 colour output of the 1400 myself. Price wise the B1100 takes some beating. I'd like to see more reviews and a few sample prints before I consider it though.

I'd certainly talk to Martin about the B1100, I'm sure he can do you a really good deal on the white ink at the moment..........
