View Full Version : Quickutz Silhouette Problem (mechanical?)

Now Then Folks,

I've recently acquired a secondhand Quickutz Silhouette.
I can load my media on the cutting mat and hand feed it into the machine but when it come to cutting the pinch rollers seem to jam and almost scream out. When I turn the feed wheel there seem to be a point of resistance at the same point about every 2.5 turns.

I've opened it up to see a brass cogwheel from the motor that drives a larger diameter nylon cog connected to the pinch roller. I can't see any teeth missing or any obvious signs of wear. (But the gearing ratio explains why I don't feel the resistance every turn).

So my questions are these, what am I doing wrong? What could be up with the cutter? Is it possible to buy spare parts? If so, where from?

Thanks in advance

Simon

Im not sure if you would get parts for this now, as its a old machine, try graphtecgb.co.uk

Thanks for the reply, have tried to sort it but am resigned to buy a new cutter. Wondering how good the imported Chinese 28" cutters are for large and small size cut jobs?
